I’ve been doing some research on different property investment strategies and recently came across something called a dual key package or dual key house package. It sounds like a great way to get two rental incomes from one property — but I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with them?

From what I understand, a dual key home is designed with two separate living spaces under one roof — usually sharing an entrance or a wall, but still offering privacy and independence for both tenants. Some are even eligible for first home buyer grants, which makes it even more appealing.

A few questions I’m hoping someone can answer:

Is a dual key package better than a traditional duplex investment?

How do banks view financing for dual key homes?

Are there any downsides — like council restrictions or resale challenges?

Is rental demand strong for these kinds of setups in areas like Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne?
